A la découverte de l'art du XXe siècle

 

Nous avions choisi, en cette fin d'année, de consacrer notre visite au musée à la découverte d'oeuvres célèbres mais pas toujours compréhensibles par le commun des mortels.

Reidun, notre guide, nous a ouvert les yeux (et les oreilles, en anglais!)

Ainsi nous avons commencé par le pointillisme avec Georgette Agutte et Signac. Nous avons ensuite découvert des aspects inconnus du fameux tableau de Matisse «  Intérieur aux aubergines  ».

Après un petit détour vers Kandinsky, nous nous sommes dirigés vers plus d'abstraction avec Joan Mitchell et sa vision de Giverny pour terminer par un «  Déjeûner sur l'herbe  » revisité.

La sculpture était présente avec «  La Fourmi  » de Germaine Richier.

Belle visite et ambiance sympathique.

Nous vous proposerons au printemps l'exposition temporaire «  De Delacroix à Gauguin  », chefs d'oeuvre dessinés. En anglais toujours  !

Discovering 20th Century Art.

 
For the end of this year, we chose to devote our Museum visit to the study of some famous masterpieces which are not always easy to understand for the non-experts.

Reidun, our guide, helped us to open our eyes and ears (in English, of course).

So we began with examples of pointillism from works of Georgette Agutte and Signac. Then we discovered unknown aspects of Matisse's famous painting "Still Life with Eggplant". After a quick detour via Kandinsky, we moved towards more abstract works by Joan Mitchell and her vision of Giverny to finish with another interpretation of "Déjeuner sur l'herbe"

We also saw the sculpture "The Ant" by Germaine Richier.

It was an interesting visit in a friendly atmosphere.

In the spring we will give you the opportunity to visit the temporary exhibition "From Delacroix to Gauguin : their masterpiece sketches". As always, in English!
